PSS™
Persistent State Service
The goal of the Persistent Object Service (POS) is to provide common interfaces to the mechanisms used for retaining and managing the persistent state of objects. The Persistent Object Service will be used in conjunction with other object services. For example, naming, relationships, transactions, life cycle, and so forth.
