10:00-11:00 RetailDTF: UnifiedPOS 2.0 Platform Investigation

UnifiedPOS 2.0 is movingto an asynchronous microservices style model where devices are no longerphysically connected via direct serial cable.

UnifiedPOS 1.x (locallyconnected model) continues to be important because it has a place at the end ofthe messaging chain.

Investigate if we shouldrely on existing platform standards from the IoT world or roll our own.  Define some requirements for a standard tohelp evaluate the field of options, and do that evaluation.

11:00-12:00 RetailDTF: Document Review for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Plan how to review ourretail technology specifications and documentation for terms and phrases that counterdiversity, equity and inclusion, and follow-up with remediation.  There is absolutely no evidence any of ourspecifications were created with the intention of marginalizing anyone, but ifan issue exists in our technical terminology or prose, the time has come torepair it and move forward.

14:00-16:00 RetailDTF: Retail Industry Ontology (RIO)

The retail standard specifications are full of things, things that need definition. Interfaces, messages, entities, properties, high level abstractions. Those definitions need to match up across the standards and with other industries: manufacturing, financial, supply chain, privacy.  That is what an ontology provides. When we define new standard specifications, a part of that effort includes extending the Retail Industry Ontology.
